It’s time again for a new blog and this time, about my favorite food and drink spots in Malaga! And not just Málaga is amazing, but we also have a lot of good, authentic food, coffee, and drink (&work) places! Let me guide you through the best spots in & around Málaga center.

Food & Drink

Next Level Specialty Coffee

Instagram @nextlevelspecialtycoffee

This sweet couple has been badass as they opened in the middle of the pandemic! I got to know them personally last summer in July more or less when they just were open for 2 or 3 months or so. Only already because of personal reasons you do want to go there. To have a little chat, they are super nice and friendly and it soon feels like good friends already!

I’m a coffee drinker but not a specialist, far from that. But what I do know is the coffee is made with love. You can also eat there, breakfast, lunch, and sweets. AND, they even make their own bread!

It’s a good location, close to the train station of Málaga so when you’ve just arrived, it’s easy to go there for a moment to sit and relax!

Tost

Not far away neither from the train station. Just across the street from the mayor “Mercado Atarazanas” you will find Tost. Another delicious coffee place with a very warm family welcome! Amazing coffee and amazing homemade sweets! Must try for sure!

I always feel super welcome and they are always open to having a little chat! Besides the sweets, they do also have other food. Check out their Instagram for beautiful pictures.

Mia Coffee Shop

Ideal for your coffee to go! They do not have a terrace with tables, just a few stools or otherwise, you can sit in front of the church. They have Specialty coffee and also homemade cakes, croissants, and some other stuff. It’s a small tiny place, but there is always a line with people!

100% recommendable!

On of my favorities food and drink spots in Malaga: La Casa del Perro

Instagram @perrobon

I’ve worked in this restaurant for more than 1 year when I arrived in Málaga. I learned Spanish here, I had such a good time and the owners are like my Spanish mom and dad. The food is amazing, everything is made with care and lots of love. They have 100% ecological and natural wines.

Besides being a restaurant, it’s also a shop where you can buy food, or take home your favorite bottle of wine.

My favorite food is: Well actually everything, but if I need to choose: Albondigas de tofu en salsa de setas, which are tofu balls in a sauce of mushrooms and coco.

Ana: “También que en la tienda hay productos de despensa ( aceite, mermeladas, soja, vinagre…) y las súper verduras eco directas del campo cada jueves. Y mi comida favorito son tambien las Albondigas de tofu!” – “Also that in the store there are pantry products ( oil, jams, soy, vinegar…) and the super eco vegetables direct from the field every Thursday. And my favorite food is also the tofu meatballs!”

Fede: “A mi me encanta hacer el bacalao con tomate”“I love to make cod with tomato.”

Gloria Hoyos, easy and good food

Instagram @gloriahoyos89

Very recommendable for lunch or dinner! They have daily menus which are not expensive at all. Nice place to sit inside, good Wi-Fi so you could do some work on your laptop as well. Nice atmosphere, good workers, it’s just a good place to be!

My favorite food there is: Batatas y Patatas.

La Galerna, lunch with seaview

Instagram @lagalernapedregalejo

Have been here so many times! It’s in Pedregalejo. They have a good terrace, with nice shadows for the hot days. The salads are really good here, and the “Zumo” (juice) KEES is delicious!

You’ll have a view of the sea because you’re almost sitting with your toes in the sand. This is not the only good spot in Pedregalejo by the way. Another nice spot is for example La Machina.

Casa Amigos

Instagram @casaamigoscentro

Nice people, amazing food, friendly workers, good terrace. Casa Amigos has it all! On weekends they also have live music! For lunch (only weekends), or dinner & drinks you are at the right spot here. It’s super centrical so there is no excuse to come here. One of the best food and drink spots in Malaga!

I love the “Ensaladilla Rusa“, and the salad with goat cheese and dates… Hmmm!

Dulces & Dreams

Instagram @dulcesdreamsmalaga

Hello nice Rooftop! A bit hidden spot, -the rooftop-, because a lot of people DO know already about Dulce and Dreams. But what a lot of people do not know is that you have access to the rooftop. You have to order downstairs and bring it up yourself but, then you can really lounge over there in the sun.

I’ve been here in the “coldest” months, and then it’s super warm there and just sitting in your tank top or t-shirt is more than enough!

Dulces and Dreams is for your coffee + piece of cake, breakfast, or lunch (they have literally everything)

& Besides being a bar, it’s also a Hostel/Hotel!

Noviembre

Instagram @noviembrehealthyfood

Good spot to have a coffee, lunch, and even bring your laptop. They have daily menus for little money. Good (veggie) hamburgers, green salads, and bread!

I come here so now and then, and the amount of food they serve is perfect.

I can recommend trying the veggie burger!
